In 1884, Austrian painter Baron Eugen Ransonnet introduced this gem to the world. Since 1951, it has been protected as a geomorphological natural monument. During a 2019 scientific study, 119 marine species were recorded inside the cave — 5 of which are strictly protected by law.
Swimming in the cave is strictly prohibited.
