Our Overview

This tour focuses on the military history of Vis during the mid to late 20th century.
In addition to visiting the British military airfield — a strategic site that played a crucial role during World War II — you’ll explore hidden military structures from the former Yugoslavia. Until 1992, Vis was a military island, serving as a key strategic defense point for the entire country.
The Yugoslav army built dozens of underground military facilities across the island, each with a different purpose. We’ll take you through some of the most fascinating ones and share stories that were once top military secrets — unknown even to the local population.

Everything You Need to Know

During the Cold War era, Vis was so isolated that even the local residents discovered the underground tunnels only after the military left the island.
